US Envoy, Foreign Adviser meet to strengthen Dhaka-Washington ties

US Ambassador to Dhaka, Brent Christensen, has stated that he held a meeting with Foreign Affairs Adviser Md. Tawhid Hossain. He also mentioned that the meeting involved fruitful discussions on various important aspects of the bilateral relationship between Bangladesh and the United States.

He made these remarks to journalists on Sunday, February 8, after separate meetings with Foreign Affairs Adviser Md. Tawhid Hossain and Foreign Secretary Asad Alam Siam at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the afternoon.

A source from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that US Ambassador Brent Christensen arrived at the Ministry around 11:00 am. At the beginning of his programme, he held a meeting with Foreign Secretary Asad Alam Siam. Later, he met with Foreign Affairs Adviser Md. Tawhid Hossain.

The source further said the ambassador's meetings with the Foreign Affairs Adviser and the Foreign Secretary lasted for about an hour and a half. Discussions during the meetings covered bilateral relations, various regional and global issues, trade, investment, and strengthening mutual cooperation.

Speaking to journalists after the meetings, US Ambassador Brent Christensen said, "I had an excellent meeting with the Foreign Affairs Adviser. We had fruitful discussions on important aspects of our bilateral relationship."

This is Brent Christensen's first meeting with the Foreign Affairs Adviser and the Foreign Secretary since his arrival in Dhaka. He assumed his duties as the 19th US Ambassador to Bangladesh on January 12.
