US keen to strengthen agricultural trade with Bangladesh: Ambassador

US Ambassador to Dhaka Brent T Christensen has expressed interest in further strengthening import-export trade between Bangladesh and the United States in the agricultural sector.

The ambassador expressed this interest during a meeting with Minister for Agriculture, Food, Fisheries and Livestock Mohammad Amin Ur Rashid at the Secretariat on Monday, March 2. Discussions were also held on agriculture, livestock and mutual trade issues during the meeting.

Welcoming the ambassador, the agriculture minister said the United States is a longstanding friend and development partner of Bangladesh. He welcomed US agricultural technology and cooperation to further accelerate Bangladesh's agriculture-dependent economy.

The ambassador congratulated the newly appointed minister and said his country is interested in working to further expand trade in the agricultural sector. The agriculture minister also expressed optimism about cooperation in this regard.

Senior officials of the Ministry of Agriculture were present at the meeting.
