Verdict against Obaidul Quader, 6 others in crimes against humanity case Tuesday

The International Crimes Tribunal will deliver its verdict tomorrow, Tuesday, September 15, in the case filed over crimes against humanity committed against protesters during the 2024 mass uprising, against Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader and top leaders of the party's affiliated organisations .

A three-member bench of International Crimes Tribunal-2, headed by Justice Nazrul Islam Chowdhury, fixed the date on Monday, September 14 .

The tribunal had kept the case awaiting verdict on August 17 after the completion of closing arguments in the final stage of the case . A total of 29 witnesses testified during the trial . All seven accused, including Obaidul Quader, have been absconding since the beginning of the case .

Besides Obaidul Quader, the other accused in the case are Awami League Joint General Secretary AFM Bahauddin Nasim, former State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Mohammad Ali Arafat, Jubo League President Sheikh Fazle Shams Parash and General Secretary Mainul Hossain Khan Nikhil, and banned Chhatra League President Saddam Hossain and General Secretary Sheikh Wali Asif Enan .
