The verdict in the case of eight-year-old child Ramisa being raped and murdered in Pallabi, Dhaka, is today.

The court of Dhaka Metropolitan Child Violence Prevention Tribunal Judge Masrur Salekin will give this verdict on Sunday (June 7). Through this, a precedent is going to be set in the shortest time in the history of the country.

The victim's family is expecting the maximum punishment for the accused in the Ramisa rape-murder case. 16 people have testified in the discussed case.

The state's lawyer claims that the charges against the main accused in the case, Sohel Rana and his wife Swapna Khatun, have been proven beyond a doubt. In this, he expects the maximum punishment for the accused.

The state-appointed lawyer for the accused has requested life imprisonment for accused Sohel Rana instead of death penalty.

According to the case sources, Ramisa was a second-class student of Popular Model High School. Swapna sneaked into the room when she left the house around 9:30am on May 19. That day around 10:3am, her mother started looking for Ramisa to go to school. At one point, she saw the child's shoes in front of the accused's room. After knocking, without receiving any response, Ramisa's parents and other people from the flat broke the door and entered and found Ramisa's headless body on the floor of the accused's bedroom and her head in a large bucket inside the room. After receiving a call through the national emergency service 999, the police arrived at the scene and took Swapna into custody. With the help of information technology, the police were able to arrest Sohel Rana from in front of Fatulla Police Station in Narayanganj district.

The victim's father, Abdul Hannan Mollah, filed a case with Pallabi Police Station as a plaintiff in this incident on May 20.
