Home Affairs Adviser Lt. Gen. (retd.) Jahangir Alam Choudhury said on Wednesday (November 19) that the Victory Day parade will not be held this year as well.

He also confirmed there is no security threat surrounding the Victory Day celebrations or the recent verdict in the Sheikh Hasina case.

Speaking to reporters after a security coordination meeting at the Secretariat, he said Victory Day programmes will proceed as in previous years, with even more events planned. However, like last year, the parade will remain cancelled.

Asked about the late-night detention of a journalist by men identifying as DB officers, the adviser said he was unaware of the incident and would comment after investigation.

Last year, student parades and displays at district and upazila levels were also suspended and replaced with a “Bijoy Mela,” which will be organised again this year.
