Visa extension assured for Bangladeshis in Middle East: Humayun Kabir
Assurances have been received from embassies regarding extension of visas for Bangladeshis working in the Middle East, said Humayun Kabir, Adviser to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs.
Speaking to journalists after a meeting with Prime Minister Tarique Rahman at the Secretariat on Wednesday, March 4, the adviser said, "We have discussed with the embassies regarding Bangladeshis in the Middle East. They have assured us of visa extensions. There is no lack of sincerity or effort from the government in all matters."
Adviser Humayun Kabir said, "This government is a government of the people. Therefore, Bangladeshi citizens are receiving top priority in the government's daily activities. The government is prepared to tackle any potential crisis arising from the war situation."
He informed that under the leadership of the Prime Minister, the elected government is built on a strong foundation and is taking necessary steps to keep everything in the country sustainable and normal during any crisis.
The adviser noted that diversification of the energy sector is also being considered with importance. Additionally, continuous communication is being maintained with citizens in war-affected regions including Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, as well as with authorities of the concerned countries.
Preparations are also in place to bring Bangladeshis back home if necessary. He also mentioned ensuring cooperation in coordination with other countries.
