War crimes case: Inu seeks live broadcast of tribunal proceedings
Amid ongoing hearings in the July-August war crimes case, Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) President Hasanul Haq Inu has formally requested that his trial at the International Crimes Tribunal-2 (ICT-2) be broadcast live on television.
Inu’s lawyer Mansurul Haque Chowdhury submitted the application before the tribunal, headed by Justice Nazrul Islam Chowdhury, at 11am on Wednesday (December 17).
The panel will issue further instructions on the request after due consideration.
The case, now on its sixth day of witness testimonies, includes charges of six murders, incitement, and conspiracy linked to the July-August uprisings. Prosecutors Mizanul Islam and Faruk Ahmed represented the state during Wednesday’s proceedings.
Previously, on Monday (December 15), the tribunal recorded the testimony of Sakhawat Hossain, former Deputy Jailor of Kashimpur Jail-2, the fifth prosecution witness, who is listed in the seizure list. Another key witness, Sub-Inspector Shahed Zobayer Lawrence from the CID Digital Forensic Lab, also provided testimony.
Inu, facing charges of crimes against humanity, has repeatedly appeared in court, with his legal team cross-examining witnesses and seeking transparency in the judicial process.
