Water leaks through Parliament mosque ceiling, buckets placed to collect it
Water is leaking through the ceiling of the mosque inside the National Parliament building, forcing the use of buckets to collect the dripping water, Chief Whip GK Gaush said on Monday during a parliament session.
Gaush said many MPs and others offer prayers at the mosque, but rainwater is entering through the ceiling. "Not just outside, water is entering the mosque as well," he said.
Deputy Speaker Kayser Kamal acknowledged the issue, saying his own official residence's roof also leaks. Chief Whip Md Noorul Islam said the maintenance of Parliament is under the Housing and Public Works Ministry. Work has already begun to repair the leaking areas, and the problem will be solved within a week, he added.
Housing and Public Works Minister Zakaria Taher assured the House that all necessary measures have been taken and the issue will be resolved soon.
