Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader said they will talk to party chief Sheikh Hasina about the letter sent by Donald Lu, US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs, urging for an unconditional dialogue. Obaidul Quader came up with the remark while talking to reporters at the Secretariat on Wednesday.

He said, “We have received a letter from Donald Lu (US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs). US Ambassador Peter Haas handed us over the letter this morning. We will respond (to the letter) after holding a discussion with the party chief, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.”

"Election Commission will announce the date of National Election at any time. In this situation, if dialogue has to be done in a country like ours, dialogue cannot be done without any party else. Dialogue is not such a matter that it has to be done only with two parties or with a few parties. That must be done with hundreds of parties. So, when the dialogue will be held, when the process of this election will start - that is a matter," Awami League General Secretary added.

Obaidul Quader further said, "Our opinions and decisions were very clear regarding the dialogue. We said earlier that we are not thinking about any conditional dialogue. Let them withdraw these points, and then we will think about dialogue - it was the story of long ago. That time has passed. There is no scope left for dialogue now."
