Weekly holidays of inter-city trains cancelled for smooth Eid travel
Bangladesh Railway has cancelled the weekly holidays of all inter-city trains across the country from Monday, March 16, to ensure hassle-free journeys for people heading home for Eid-ul-Fitr.
The decision was taken at a preparatory meeting for special train services for Eid at Rail Bhaban in the capital. The meeting announced that all inter-city trains will operate regularly from March 16 until the day before Eid, with no weekly closures during this period. However, the regular weekly holidays for trains will resume after Eid.
Meanwhile, surveillance has been increased to prevent ticketless passengers from entering stations. Round-the-clock vigilance has been arranged at station areas with the cooperation of GRP, RNF, BGB, RAB and local police.
Additionally, security measures have been further strengthened on moving trains, at stations and on railway lines to prevent sabotage. To this end, the activities of RNF, GRP and railway staff have been intensified.
