What preliminary autopsy reveals about Bibhuranjan Sarkar's death

A preliminary autopsy was conducted after the body of missing journalist and writer Bibhuranjan Sarkar was recovered.

Sheikh Md. Ehsanul Islam, Residential Medical Officer (RMO) at Munshiganj General Hospital, told reporters, “The body showed no signs of injury, though some decomposition had started. The liver, kidneys, heart, stomach, hair, and teeth have been preserved and sent to Dhaka for further testing.”

“The lungs were swollen, which is typical in drowning cases,” he added.

Earlier, on Friday afternoon (August 22), locals spotted the body of Bibhuranjan Sarkar floating in the Meghna River at Char Balakia in Gozaria of Munshiganj. The river police recovered the body after being informed.

Alamgir Hossain, Superintendent of Police, Narayanganj Range, said, “From the appearance of the body, it seems the death occurred a day earlier. There are no visible signs of injury. However, we will have to wait for the forensic report for detailed findings.”

Bibhuranjan Sarkar had been missing since Thursday morning, and his body was found floating in the Meghna River on Friday afternoon.
