When women move forward, the nation moves forward: Zubaida Rahman
Dr. Zubaida Rahman, spouse of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, has said that the advancement of women is essential for the progress of the nation.
She made the remarks while speaking at a discussion marking International Women's Day at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium on Sunday (March 8).
She said, “When women move forward, the nation moves forward. Indomitable spirit is humanity’s greatest strength.”
Dr. Rahman emphasised her commitment to building a Bangladesh that ensures women’s safety and respect, urging everyone to uphold principles of integrity, dignity, and social justice.
She also lauded former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia for her unwavering courage and resilience despite decades of oppression.
The Ministry of Women and Children Affairs organised the event, during which six distinguished women, including the late BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, were honoured with the “Indomitable Women Award.” The awards were presented by President Mohammad Shahabuddin.
Award recipients included: Nurun Nahar Akter (Economic Achievement); Bobita Khatun (Success in Education & Career); Nur Banu Kabir (Outstanding Motherhood); Shamla Begum (Triumph Over Adversity); Afroza Yasmin (Exceptional Contribution to Social Development).
The event highlighted the importance of women’s leadership, empowerment, and social contributions in shaping a progressive and inclusive Bangladesh.
