Will work to fulfil the expectations of the country’s 180 million people: ACC Chairman
Newly appointed Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Chairman Justice AKM Asaduzzaman has expressed his resolve to work towards meeting the expectations of the country’s 180 million people.
He made the remarks while speaking to journalists on Wednesday (August 19) on the first working day of the new commission at the ACC headquarters.
The ACC Chairman said, “Please pray for us so that we can work for the country according to the people’s expectations, restore the image of the ACC, and make sufficient efforts to free the country from corruption. InshaAllah, we will bring good results in the days ahead.”
Responding to a question on whether the ACC would face any pressure while working independently, he said, “InshaAllah, we are under no pressure. We are working independently. If any problem arises before us, we will try to resolve it. We have come here keeping the people’s expectations in mind.”
Justice Asaduzzaman added, “If you hear everything on the first day, what will you do on the remaining days? We will work with you for a long time.”
Commissioners Jahangir Alam Khan and Sajjad Hossain Bhuiyan were also present. Responding to another question, ACC Commissioner Sajjad Hossain Bhuiyan said, “A highly experienced judge of Bangladesh has become the chairman of this commission. Under his leadership, we will take decisions on every matter thoroughly and impartially. I hope you will be able to learn about progress on these issues in a very short time.”
