Tahsif murder: Woman arrested, Dip being grilled in remand
Naval police have arrested a woman named Disha in connection with the death of former Bangladesh Air Force flight lieutenant KM Tahsif Sauri. Meanwhile, investigators have begun grilling Dip, who is currently in four-day police remand.
Firoz Ahmed, inspector of Tongi Naval Police, said Disha was arrested on Saturday night (31 October). Investigators began questioning Dip from midnight the same day.
According to sources familiar with the investigation, the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) initially took Dip into custody for questioning following allegations made by Tahsif's family over his death. Dip was a close companion and junior friend who regularly accompanied Tahsif.
During questioning, Dip provided information about the places he had visited with Tahsif and the reasons for their visits.
However, investigators reportedly found inconsistencies in his statements, according to sources familiar with the probe. The PBI subsequently visited several locations based on information provided by Dip.
Naval police sources said investigators were questioning Dip by comparing his earlier statements with the allegations in the case filed by Tahsif's family, CCTV footage and other evidence gathered during the investigation.
Investigators are trying to establish what happened before Tahsif's death and whether anyone else was involved.
After the four-day remand period ends, investigators may seek further remand if necessary, subject to verification and assessment of the information provided by Dip, the sources said.
