Woman hacked to death at Kamalapur railway station, boyfriend arrested
A womam was brutally hacked to death late Monday night (August 25) at Kamalapur Railway Station in the capital.
The incident took place near platform number 7 around 11.00pm.
The deceased was identified as Shyamoli, 30, originally hailed from Natore and had been living in the Azimpur area of Dhaka.
According to Dhaka Railway Police Station Officer-in-Charge Joynal Abedin, Shyamoli was attacked with a sharp weapon by a young man identified as Sujon, hailed from Pabna. She was critically injured and rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared her dead on arrival.
Sujon was arrested at the scene shortly after the incident. Both were employed as sales staff at separate superstores in the capital.
Police reported that the victim sustained fatal wounds to her face and neck. Her body has been sent to Dhaka Medical College Morgue for post-mortem examination.
Preliminary investigations indicate that Shyamoli and Sujon were in a romantic relationship that had recently soured. The murder was the result of a personal dispute.
Further investigations into the matter is underway.
