The entire world will suffer if the ongoing talks between the United States and Iran fail, State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed Islam has said. She made the comment while speaking to journalists at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Sunday evening, April 12.

Commenting on the initiation of dialogue between the US and Iran facilitated by Pakistan, the state minister said it is a positive sign that both sides have agreed to at least sit at the negotiating table. This initiative makes it clear that the parties concerned are interested in avoiding conflict and moving towards peace. The Bangladesh government always welcomes any such diplomatic efforts.

If the talks collapse, not only these two countries but every country in the world will be forced to bear the consequences, the state minister said. The damage will be felt both economically and socially. Therefore, Bangladesh wants the talks to become more dynamic and produce an acceptable solution for all parties.

Regarding the overall war situation in the Middle East, she said Dhaka's longstanding position is that the war must be stopped at any cost and a solution must be found through diplomatic dialogue. Ordinary people and the global economy are suffering the most from the ongoing war, which is not desirable in any way.

While not commenting on the failure to reach a solution in the first round of talks, she expressed optimism that all parties will eventually reach a peaceful resolution.
