A writ has been filed in the High Court challenging the validity of the International Crimes Tribunal Act, which was formed to try crimes against humanity.

Supreme Court lawyer Muhammad Mohshen Rashid filed the writ on Wednesday (June 24).

The writ has made the law ministry secretary and other parties concerned as respondents.

The writ has sought a ruling on the constitutional validity of the act. At the same time, the respondents have been asked to explain why the government will not be directed to take necessary steps to repeal or repeal the International Crimes (Tribunal) Act of 1973.

The petition states that the act has fulfilled its main purpose. It is necessary to repeal the act to prevent its possible misuse and abuse against political opponents in the future.

The writ also claims that the International Crimes (Tribunal) Act is unconstitutional. Therefore, it has been sought to declare the act unconstitutional and declare it null and void.
