Writ filed in High Court challenging legality of interim government’s actions
A writ petition has been filed in the High Court challenging the legality of the activities carried out during the tenure of the interim government led by Dr Muhammad Yunus.
The petition was submitted on Monday (May 4) by Supreme Court lawyer Mohammad Mohsin Rashid to the relevant High Court section.
In the writ, the petitioner has sought a directive from the court to the government to form a commission to investigate whether there are any corruption allegations against the then Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus.
Speaking to the media, the lawyer said the petition also raises questions over the legality of various decisions taken during the interim government’s tenure, including laws enacted, formation of reform commissions, and both domestic and international agreements signed.
He said he would attempt to place the petition before the High Court for hearing later in the day.
The Cabinet Secretary, Law Secretary, and other relevant officials have been made respondents in the case.
Earlier, the same lawyer had filed another writ challenging the oath-taking and formation process of the current interim government. That petition was rejected by a High Court bench. An appeal against the decision was later dismissed by the Supreme Court, which upheld the legality of the interim government.
