Yaser Khan Chowdhury became state minister for information and broadcasting
Yaser Khan Chowdhury has been appointed as the State Minister for Information and Broadcasting in the newly formed cabinet.
He was elected by a huge margin from the Mymensingh-9 (Nandail) constituency in the 13th National Parliament election.
After a long 35 years, Yaser Khan Chowdhury regained the seat of his father Anwarul Hossain Khan Chowdhury. In 1991, his father became an MP as a BNP nominated candidate in this constituency. Yaser Khan Chowdhury took oath as a State Minister with the restoration of his father's seat.
In 1991, Yaser Khan Chowdhury's father Anwarul Hossain Khan Chowdhury was elected as a Member of Parliament from this constituency by a huge margin in the National Parliament election. He was the advisor to martyred President Ziaur Rahman, the founding president of Mymensingh District North BNP and the private secretary of MAG Osmani, the commander-in-chief of independence.
Anwarul Hossain Khan Chowdhury was also an elected member of the Senate and Syndicate of Dhaka University.
Yaser Khan Chowdhury, son of Anwarul Hossain, is an IT scientist. He has served in the IT department of BBC Television Network London for a long time. At one stage, he came to the country and became active in local politics.
His uncle Khurram Khan Chowdhury was a four-time member of parliament.
After the fall of the Awami League government, he joined the students and the people in Nandail. In such a situation, he made himself acceptable to the party members among many who were hoping for BNP nomination.
