You will live among us as long as Bangladesh exists: Chief Adviser

Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus on Saturday (December 20) paid tribute to Shaheed Sharif Osman Hadi, saying his presence will live on in the hearts of Bangladeshis for as long as the country exists.

Speaking ahead of Hadi’s janaza, Dr Yunus said, “We are not here today only to bid farewell to Osman Hadi. As long as Bangladesh survives, you will live among us.”

Earlier in the day, an autopsy on Hadi’s body was conducted at Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital. The body was later taken to the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases, where it was prepared before being brought in a procession to the South Plaza of the National Parliament on Manik Mia Avenue.

From early morning, large numbers of people gathered in the Parliament area to attend the janaza. By early afternoon, areas including Farmgate, Bijoy Sarani, Asad Gate, and Manik Mia Avenue were overwhelmed by mourners chanting slogans such as “We will all become Hadi” and “Hadi’s blood will not be in vain.”

According to Inqilab Mancha, Hadi will be laid to rest beside the grave of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam at Dhaka University, following a request from his family.
