Youth killed in ‘Cocktail’ blast during clash at Geneva Camp

A 20-year-old man was killed in a ‘cocktail’ explosion during a clash between two groups at Geneva Camp in capital’s Mohammadpur early Thursday (October 23).

The deceased has been identified Md Zahid, was employed at a mobile servicing shop in Kalyanpur. Hailing from Geneva Camp, he was the youngest among seven siblings and was known to be the main support for his family.

Police said the incident took place around 3:40am and the situation was later brought under control.

Family sources said Zahid stepped outside his home amid the clash when an explosive hit his head, leaving him critically injured. He was first taken to a local trauma center and later to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him dead around 4:30am.

"The body has been kept at the DMCH morgue for autopsy, and the incident is under investigation," police said.
