The investigation into several murder and attempted murder cases filed in the capital surrounding the July coup has revealed serious discrepancies. The final police report found that in some cases the person claimed to be 'killed' is alive in Saudi Arabia, in some cases the identity of the plaintiff in the case is fake. Again, in some cases, no evidence was found to support the claim of being killed or injured in a shooting.

The investigation revealed that the final reports of 19 cases have already been submitted to the court. Of these, three cases have been described as completely false by the investigating agencies. In the remaining 16 cases, informational inconsistencies, fake documents, wrong identities, and discrepancies with the description of the incident were found.

In one case, it was alleged that on July 19, 2024, a person named Md. Babu was killed in police firing in the Hatirjheel area. But during the investigation, the police came to know that the person is actually alive and is currently working as a laborer in Saudi Arabia. He himself said that he was not dead and that the police had previously spoken to him about the matter.

The person whose name was used as the plaintiff in that case also claimed in the investigation that he had never filed such a case. Police say that a gang using someone else's identity filed the case with malicious intent. The investigation also stated that the death certificate attached to the case was fake.

Hatirjheel Police Station Investigation Officer Russell Islam told the media that the investigation proved the case to be false. The claims of both the deceased and the plaintiff mentioned in the case were not found to be true. The investigation revealed to us that a gang using someone else's identity filed the case with malicious intent.

In another case, it was claimed that a person named Parvez Ali was shot dead during a protest in Paltan. But the investigation did not find the existence of any deceased person by that name. At the same time, the plaintiff's claim of being shot was not proven. According to the investigation officers, the case was filed by showing old cut marks as bullet marks.

The investigation also revealed that in some cases, people who were hundreds of kilometers away from the scene of the incident were also accused. The investigation report also mentions allegations of framing innocent people for personal disputes, land or business interests.

Police Headquarters Assistant Inspector General (Media) AHM Shahadat Hossain told the media that action is taken against false plaintiffs in cases as per the law. The same will happen in this case too.

Legal experts say that if a case is proven to be false during the investigation, then there is an opportunity to take legal action against the person filing the false case under Section 211 of the Penal Code.
