Youth Union Dhaka unit holds conference

The conference of Bangladesh Youth Union, Dhaka Metropolitan North was held at the Dr. Golam Mohiuddin Memorial Library Auditorium in Hatirjheel, Dhaka on Friday (July 10).

The conference was inaugurated with a cultural performance by Bangladesh Udichi Shilpi Gosthi Badda Thana Sangsad. The organization's central president, Khan Asaduzzaman Masum, inaugurated the conference.

He called for establishing a society without discrimination, maintaining the spirit of the Liberation War and building a united movement to realize the rights of the youth.

Central General Secretary Jahangir Alam Nannu, former central president and Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) Dhaka Metropolitan North President Hasan Hafizur Rahman Sohel, CPB central leader Dr. Sajedul Haque Rubel, Presidium members of the Youth Union Ashiqul Islam Jewel and Anwar Hossain, Conference Preparation Council Chairman Zahidul Islam Sajeeb and Convener Md. Sohel Fakir spoke at the conference.

In addition, Central Assistant General Secretary Apurba Saha and Social Welfare Secretary Rafizul Islam Rafiq were present.

The speakers said that the Youth Union is continuously working to unite the youth in the struggle for democracy, equality, social justice and establishing a state without discrimination. The conference expressed the determination to further accelerate the activities of the organization.

At the end of the conference, Iran Molla was elected as the president and Md. Sohel Fakir as the general secretary in the council session. At the same time, a new committee of 25 members has also been formed, where leaders have been elected to various positions including vice president, associate general secretary, organizing secretary, treasurer, and office secretary. Two positions have been kept vacant for now, which will be filled later through co-op.
