Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md. Sakhawat Hossain Bokul, while talking to the media at the Secretariat, said that no unauthorized or substandard clinics will be allowed to operate to improve the quality of the country’s healthcare sector on Tuesday (March 24).

The minister said that Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has given strict instructions, under which a ‘zero tolerance’ policy will be implemented against irregular clinic owners. Any clinic that fails to maintain the minimum standard of medical service will be closed immediately. This monitoring program will first start in the capital and will gradually be expanded to all regions of the country.

Expressing satisfaction with the overall situation of Eid, the minister said that this year’s Eid-ul-Fitr was celebrated in the most peaceful and relaxed manner in the last one and a half decades. The common people were able to celebrate Eid without any hindrance as prices of goods remained normal and law and order was under control.

However, he also mentioned that some accidents were isolated incidents, and there were a few complaints of overcharging on trains and buses. The minister added that overall this year's Eid procession and celebrations were successful.
