Essential: Boost meat production, slash unit costs
Ahead lies Eid-ul-Adha (the festival of sacrifice), with its main ritual of animal sacrifice. In Bangladesh, almost half of the total yearly animal sacrifices occur during Eid-ul-Adha. Last year, 141,812 animals were sacrificed, including 4.581 million cattle, 107,875 buffaloes, 5.352 million goats and sheep, and the rest 877 other animals (such as camels, deer, etc.). This year, around 1 crore and 30 lakh animals are prepared for sacrifice. With an assumed 10% annual increase in demand, the demand for animals might reach 1 crore and 10 lakh this time, with an expected surplus of around 20 lakh animals. Due to the recent pandemic and economic instability, the demand for sacrificial animals has been relatively low for the past three years, resulting in unsold animals. However, there might be a slight increase in demand this time. Nevertheless, due to recent price fluctuations and increased production costs, the price of animals may rise. If animal sales decrease, farmers will suffer losses. In such circumstances, it is advisable to completely stop importing both formal and informal sacrificial animals.
1.29 crore sacrificial animals ready in country
Some 1,29,80,367 animals are ready for the upcoming Eid-ul-Adha, said the Fisheries and Livestock Minister Md Abdur Rahman. He said 53,60,716 cows and buffaloes, 76,17,801 goats and sheep, 1,850 other species of animals are ready for sacrifice.

Crime propencity during Eid
During Eid-ul-Fitr, people from various walks of life have different long-term plans associated with the event. To implement these plans, there is a year-round effort among the general public. If we focus on businessmen, we can see that Eid is utilized as an opportunity for livelihood not only by foopath traders but also by all other classes and professions. Businesspeople, including footpath traders and others from various professions, actively engage in planning and implementing business strategies to capitalize on Eid. No one refrains from striving to give their business establishment a new look. Businesspeople, along with people from all other walks of life, target Eid to infuse vibrancy into their businesses. There is an inclination to cultivate a commercial mindset (focused solely on profit, product marketing) among a particular class targeting the simple and honest general public in Bangladesh. Criminals also target Eid with the intention of committing crimes, as the economic wheel expands during the season, and the active nature of the economy increases the temptation among them to engage in criminal activities.
Tk2 note was my preferred eid salaami
Among the two major religious festivals of Muslims worldwide, Eid-ul-Fitr holds a special place by any measure. This religious festival comes after a month of strict fasting. Many fasting Muslims feel the urge to give of themselves as they celebrate this eid and give as much charity as they can. Eid brings a message of joy to everyone, rich and poor. The message of joy and happiness comes out as more practical for the poor when the rich extend their hands in support.
Eid joy lost in artificiality
People of my age notice a stark contrast between the Eid in the present days and in our childhood. Back then, sighting the Eid moon was the main aspect of Eid joy. Nowadays, that excitement has faded away. We'd eagerly gather on rooftops to spot the moon, sparking arguments among siblings about who saw it first.
