Indication of low pressure forming in Bay of Bengal within 24 hours
Bangladesh Meteorological Department has said a low pressure may form over the north-west Bay of Bengal and adjoining West Bengal-Bangladesh coastal area within the next 24 hours. At the same time, it has forecast rain and thunderstorms in different regions of the country.

Tea shop owner’s throat slit at own home
Faruq Sheikh, 46, a tea shop owner, has been killed by throat-slitting at his own house in Goalanda of Rajbari. Miscreants murdered him and police recovered his blood-soaked body from his room at municipal Jamtola area around 2:30pm on Saturday (August 22).

Chain locked on house door and set on fire, couple escapes by cutting tin fence
Lal Mia and his wife Mosammat Begum have escaped after miscreants allegedly chained the door of their dwelling house from outside and set it on fire in Sakhipur of Tangail. Although the house was gutted by the fire, the couple managed to come out by cutting the tin fence. Lal Mia sustained burn injuries in the incident and is undergoing treatment at hospital.
Two more deaths with measles symptoms
The Directorate General of Health Services has said two more people have died with measles symptoms in the country in the past 24 hours. One of them was a resident of Dhaka division and the other of Sylhet division. This has taken the number of deaths with measles symptoms in the country since 15 March to 831.
Stone pelting on Cox’s Bazar Express train, passenger injured as window glass breaks
A passenger has been injured in a stone-pelting incident on the Cox’s Bazar Express train bound for Dhaka from Cox’s Bazar after a window glass was shattered by a stone thrown from outside. The passenger’s head was cut by the impact of the stone and broken glass while the train was in motion, and he was later taken off the train for treatment.
Bodies of 6 Bangladeshis arrive home, one cremated in India
The bodies of six of the seven Bangladeshi nationals killed in a hotel fire in Kolkata on August 19 arrived in the country on Saturday, August 22. The body of the seventh victim was cremated in Kolkata as per the family's wishes.
